Since today was so warm, and I had so much gardening to do, I decided to stop and buy more plants and spend even more time gardening. I wanted to go traditional for the front this year (that’s why I started so many marigolds and zinnias) so I have pots with geraniums and petunias. Here’s a close up shot of pots, can you see C3PO and R2D2 down in my garden there? I got them years ago at the flea market, and they’ve been out front ever since. a small geeky touch!

I love posting stuff on Craigslist. Today, I’ve been cleaning out and rearranging my jewelry studio (also known by my family as the Craft Room, and it’s lately been the Crap Room.) I went to Ikea yesterday and got a bookshelf and a desk….and I’m getting rid of a pine shelf and moving the loveseat out too.
Anyways, so Mark and I made the bookshelf, and I moved all the books over to it. That left me with a pine shelf to get rid of. I posted it on craigslist, and it was gone out of my driveway in 30 minutes. 30 MINTUES!!! A lady in a green minivan stopped and put it in the van, and I noted the time. Went back online to see when it hit CL, and it was EXACTLY 30 minutes from when I had posted it!
Here is a pic of it - I deleted the post, since I’m a considerate free item lister….this made my day!

so today at work, i was talking about my previous career - i used to be a technical director for the evening news here in providence….. actually i did pretty much all of the behind the scenes tech stuff, from Chryon to floor to audio. but i ended up as technical director before i chucked it all (for a TON of reasons, including marrying the director <hi hon!>) anyway, i’m a geek now, working in a cubicle farm, surrounded by geeks, and really loving it. back to the original thought, i was talking about what i used to do, and wanted to show a pic of the switcher i used to run. didn’t have one online, so i came home to put up this one (by the way, this is CLARENCE, he got the job after i left! and clarence and i don’t look ANYTHING like each other, in case you wonder about that…..)

I’m a geek. My family will tell you, you don’t even have to ask - they’d volunteer the information. Case in point- today I went to the whole foods that will be opening on Wednesday for a free tour of the new store. Yep, a grocery store tour. Now, add to that the fact that pretty much every day of the week I go to whole foods for lunch because there’s one right near work. So I already know what stuff they carry in the store. The tour was great - this new store will actually have MORE stuff — like a mini coffee roasting station, and homemade pasta bar….. AND I came home with a bag full of cool stuff:

But then after I got home, there was a small antique show just down the street — so I HAD to go! Continue Reading »

bleh. a day of frustrations. when i got up this morning, i was raring to make beads. last night, i organized all my glass– great fun as i had a big box of new glass to include. there’s one color “seashell,” that i just can’t wait to try out.
anyway, when i connected my propane tank and turned it on, i heard hissing and immediately smelled gas. i tried reseating the regulator, but it still leaked. so now i have to pick up a new regulator tomorrow…. no beads today for me!
my second frustration is centered around the little shoppe i want to create on my site. for some reason, the module isn’t uploading pictures correctly. so now i have to geek out and figure that out…. not exactly a relaxing sunday.
maybe after i buy the regulator tomorrow, after work, i can try out “seashell” for a little bit….. i can only hope.

It’s done. Got everything set up and ready to go. I promised Starr&Liam that I would post a pic of “the present,” so I’ve got to take it and put it in here.
Created the About Beadmaking page - love the UI here - easy easy easy. Now, what will you find interesting?
